Zoning and rezoning case management – over 80 cases processed culminating in legislative action of the City Council via an ordinance.
Review of land use elements as a precursor to changes in zoning.
Extensive experience developing urban design and land use concept plans for complete communities.
Extensive experience and expert knowledge of the City of Austin Land Development Code.
Drafted Land Development Code amendments to affect change in the areas of zoning entitlements, affordable housing, site development standards, design review, and transit-oriented development.
Site plan review analysis with an emphasis on urban form and compatibility.
Historic preservation program management including historic resources surveying, historic design review, creation of historic design guidelines, and rewrite of historic preservation code.
Extensive experience interpreting and managing complex projects seeking entitlements through the Downtown Density Bonus Program.
Extensive experience managing Land Development code rewrite projects.

Management skills in the area of Planning:
Establish goals and objectives for assigned divisions and programs and evaluates achievement.
Manage and direct department divisions and programs under general direction of the Director.
Resolve sensitive political issues and conflicts and establish sound management practices. Interpret polices, provides staff direction on policy, and recommends changes to policies and procedures.
Represent the City before various professional affiliations; the business community; and other public, private, and nonprofit entities to promote the City and respond to the interests of these groups.
Cultivate partnerships with outside public and private organizations to access resources, improve the efficiency of service delivery, and carry out planning principles and policies.
Participate in the department strategic planning processes. Develop and implement assigned business plans that promote completion of the overall City of Austin business/strategic plans and initiatives. Analyze employee and business needs and develop short- and long-range strategies, goals, and action plans to meet those needs. Develop and monitor the divisions’ and business unit budgets.
Prepare and review reports as part of the process of monitoring and communicating performance results.
Recruit, develop, and retain management and senior professional staff to ensure completion of assigned goals and objectives.
Present to City Council, Boards, Commissions, design professionals, and the general public regarding Planning and Development Review initiatives.
